Original paper backed blue boards, printed paper spine label. 9 1/2 x 5 5/8 inches (24 x 14.25 cm); [i]-vii, [8]-64, 41-48 (gathering 6 repeated, gathering 9 not present), 73-206 pp., with 1 p. errata at rear. Staining, soiling, and wear to boards, spine label largely perished, joints cracked, contents with occasional pale spotting, old ownership signature, remnants of library label to spine, library bequest bookplate with discard stamp, and library collections stamp on title, a few manuscript notations in pencil, uncut. The corrected and considerably expanded first edition of the first book on Americanisms. A shorter version had previously been published in 1815 in the Memoirs of the American Academy. Sabin 62638.
