. Boston: Roberts Brothers, 1878. First edition. Publisher's cloth, cloth slipcase. 6 1/2 x 4 1/4 inches (17 x 11 cm); 301, [2] pp., with the publisher's blue printed slip before the title. Small losses to spine tips with the title portion detached but present, library stamp and ink numerals to title, pocket removed from rear pastedown, with a letter laid-in regarding its withdrawal from the Skaneateles Library, New York.

This scarce compilation of anonymously authored poems includes Emily Dickinson's Success, the only poem published in a book by Dickinson during her lifetime (a few poems appeared in newspapers, sometimes without her consent). Other unnamed authors in the work include Louisa May Alcott, Rose Hawthorne Lathrop, James Russell Lowell, Sidney Lanier, Christina Rossetti, Celia Thaxter. The book is infrequently at auction.
