Publisher's original tan cloth stamped in red, black and gilt, the top edge stained yellow, housed in a morocco backed slipcase. 7 3/4 x 4 1/4 inches; 233, 4 pp. ads starting with "Gilbert Parker's Best Books", the type not broken on last line of p. 225. An attractive copy that has been expertly recased and with some minor repairs visible to endpapers, the cloth evenly thumbsoiled.

First issue of Crane's Civil War classic, a highspot of 19th century American literature. BAL 4071.
