Paris: The Olympia Press, [1959]. First Edition, first issue with a green border on title-page and the price of "Francs 1500" printed on the rear dust jacket flap and on lower rear wrapper cover. Number 76 in The Traveller's Companion Series. Original green printed wrappers, in original decorated dust jacket. 7 x 4 1/2 inches; [226] [1] pp. Small losses to jacket tips and a few chips and rubbed areas, very short splits to text joints, small bookseller stamp to front blank, a sound copy.

Only 5,000 copies of the first issue of The Naked Lunch were printed in Paris; due to obscenity the book was banned in the United States and was not printed here until 1962. Maynard & Miles A2a.
