Lot 195
PROUST, MARCEL Autograph letter signed with comment on the memory of a friendship.
[N.p.: n.d.]. Two page autograph letter on two sheets, written in French and with the salutation "Mon cher ami," signed in full "Marcel Proust." Each page 7 x 4 1/4 inches; framed with a portrait. Usual folds, one faint spot on the second leaf, fine overall.

An interesting letter from Proust to an unknown recipient, translating loosely to: "My dear friend/The memory of our old friendship has remained too vivid for me not to revive it at the time of the great loneliness where I find myself, like a great grief, the great misfortune - the greatest of misfortunes - that strikes me is the distance from you. Marcel Proust."

Estimate: $3,000 - $5,000
