Boston: Lee & Shepard, 1870-83. A Subscriber's Copy signed by Sumner in Volume I. 15 volumes. Contemporary three quarters polished calf over marbled boards, the spine with red and tan lettering labels, all edges marbled. 7 5/8 x 5 inches (20 x 14 cm); frontispiece portrait in volume 1. Some spotting to preliminaries and faint offset to title from portrait, otherwise clean within, the bindings rubbed at tips and elsewhere with light shelfwear, bookplates of Joel Goldthwait.
