Additional Notes & Condition Report
appears to be in generally good, stucturally sound and undamaged condition; the frieze appears to be old but the legs and stretcher are probably later; the marble top is later; there is a later sheet metal brace located on the interior side of the upper frame, presumably added to provide added strength and stability to the frame; there appears to be some shrinkage to the large dovetail join areas at the top of the wood frame; there are scattered rim chips to the marble top and there is a shallow flake loss to one of the rear corners; the top surface of the marble is currently dirty in areas with a dried film or residue, which can be picked away and removed; it is possible there are small areas of infilling to the marble top, however, an examination of the marble top from the underside does not show any evidence of a previous break, etc.; the straight back edge of the marble top is polished smooth, i.e., not left somewhat rough as in older marble tops
