NEW YORK, NY -- Jewelry sales at Doyle continue to perform strongly in all value categories, and the auction of Fine Jewelry on June 10, 2020 provided another exciting opportunity for collectors and enthusiasts to acquire stylish jewelry and fine watches by the world's most prestigious makers.
The top lot of the day was a handsome Patek Philippe gentleman's gold wristwatch dating to 1915-1920 that attracted determined competition that sent the price soaring to a stunning $31,250, almost ten times its estimate of $3,000-5,000. Also performing strongly was a circa 1950-55 Patek Philippe gentleman's gold 'Calatrava' watch that realized $25,000, many times its estimate of $4,000-6,000.
Jewelry highlights included a stylish Bulgari necklace from the firm's perennially popular 'Monete' line of gold jewelry set with ancient coins, this example with an ancient Roman coin dating from 308-331 AD. The necklace sold for $11,875, doubling its estimate of $4,000-6,000.
