Lot Details

Lot 51
[CAMBODIA] [ANONYMOUS]. Campings de Brousse.
[Bush Camping] [with] [Anecdotes de Brousse]. [Bush Anecdotes]. N.p.: n.d., s.n. [but likely Paris, 1950s]. Two volumes, thin orange paper covers, black cloth spines, likely as issued. Each 10 1/2 x 8 1/8 inches (26.7 x 20.5 cm); [1], 137 ff.; [1], 86 ff.; the first with 18 small mounted original photographs; the second with 32 photographs. Light wear, some minor offsetting from the photographs.
The first work gives accounts of four hunts, including one at Dak Play (on the Cambodia-Vietnam border), and another on the right bank of the Mekong river. Tiger (now largely extinct in Cambodia), elephant etc. were shot. The second work is a series of hunting anecdotes in the region. The work is carefully compiled, as if for publication in at least a limited manner; the photograph captions refer back to the appropriate place in the text etc., yet we find no indication that any more than these single copies exist. The work is not listed in any union catalogue we have consulted, and though first names are mentioned in the text, there are no clues to authorship that we can discern.
