New York: D. Appleton and Company, 1915. First American edition. Publisher's cloth in dust jacket. 8 3/4 x 6 inches; xviii, 283 pp.; color frontispiece, full-page map, plates, half-title. Jacket edgeworn with small marginal losses and tears, price sticker to jacket spine, light toning to endpapers.
Scarce in dust jacket. "The author, with renowned photographer Cherry Kearton, trekked from British East Africa through the Belgian Congo to reach the west coast. Their goal was to study the habitat and snap pictures of the wild game and inhabitants. While the bulk of the narrative describes their journeys, there are sequences of hunting elephants near the Loya River, as well as encounters with hippopotamus and lion" (Czech).
