Boston: Ticknor, Reed and Fields, 1850. First edition, first issue with "reduplicate" on p. 21. Finely bound by Bradstreet in full dark blue levant morocco, the cover paneled in gilt and with an inlaid "A" in red morocco, the spine with raised bands and gilt lettering and tooling, the rear cover paneled in gilt, gilt-turn-ins, all edges gilt, the original covers and spine bound in at end. 7 1/8 x 4 1/4 inches (18 x 11 cm); 322 pp., bound without ads. Very fine overall, a few scuffs to cover, minor toning and spotting within.
A fine binding on Hawthorne's classic. We trace two copies of this title in this binding by Bradstreet on Rare Book Hub, sold in 1945 and 1954.
