Russian Patinated Metal and Cloisonné Enamel Triptych Icon
Apparently unmarked, circa 1900
Rectangular, with an arched upper section pierced with a vase issuing scrolling foliage, the front of the doors paneled and nielloed with saints between spiral-twist partitions, the lower edge with shaped clasp, opening to an arcaded central panel depicting the Resurrection within borders enameled with varicolored shaded enamel flowers on a blue ground, the upper corners applied with roundels centering crosses, flanked by two arcaded panels depicting St. Alexander Nevsky on the right and St. Nicholas the Wonderworker on the left, each within borders enameled with varicolored shaded enamel flowers on a blue ground, the upper corners applied with roundels centering flowers. Height 12 3/4 inches (32.4 cm.), width 14 1/4 inches (36 cm.), extended.

Paint flaking to icons in areas (visible in catalogue photos); each door slightly warped and does not close flush; trim on edge of one door is detached and is missing pins to fix it in place; losses to some decorative elements and niello decoration on front of doors (visible in catalogue photos).
