NEW YORK, NY -- Doyle held a successful auction of English & Continental Furniture, Silver & Decorative Arts on June 11, 2020 showcasing a broad selection of furniture and decorative arts, including Georgian silver; English, Continental and Chinese export porcelain; sculpture; clocks; chandeliers; tapestries and rugs.

The auction offered a special section devoted to English and Continental silver with examples by prominent makers that attracted competitive bidding from both sides of the Atlantic. Highlighting the sale was an impressive set of twenty-four George III dinner plates by Naphtali Hart, London, 1810, from the Property of an International Collector, that sold for $17,500. Determined bidders drove the price of a pair of Regency Sheffield plate wine coolers from the same consignor soaring past their estimate of $600-800 to a stunning $10,625.

Furniture offerings featured a George III mahogany library table that realized $11,250, many times its estimate of $2,500-3,500. Made during the last quarter 18th century, the handsome table featured a rotating hexagonal top cleverly fitted with two bookrests on steel ratchets. Also noteworthy was a George IV mahogany, ebony-Inlaid and part-ebonized center table set on scroll carved feet that sold for an exceptionally strong $8,750, ten times its estimate of $800-1,200.

All prices include the Buyer's Premium.
