CHURCHILL, WINSTON The Second World War.
Toronto: Thomas Allen (the first, signed volume), the balance the Houghton Mifflin Company, 1948-1953. Mixed set (at least one volume in a later issue jacket), inscribed in the first volume by Churchill to sculptor Benno Elkan. Six volumes. Publisher's cloth in pictorial dust jackets. The hinges of volume one somewhat loose, minor wear to jacket and cloth extremities, light toning and dust soiling, a few small punctures to the jacket on volume one.

Provenance: The 19th Century Shop

Benno Elkan is best known for his 1949 bronze sculptural portrait of Churchill. A fine association.
