Original drawing for A.A. Milne's The House at Pooh Corner, 1928, published on page 132 of the book. Ink drawing with Chinese white corrections, on Newman's Artist Illustration tablet; depicting Winnie-the-Pooh and Piglet walking in the woods on a windy day, signed in ink "E.H. Shepard" (ll), and captioned in pencil below the drawing as titled above; the verso annotated in Shepard's hand "Ernest H. Shepard/Long Meadow/Longdown Road/Guildford." The illustration board approximately 14 1/2 x 10 1/2 inches (36.5 x 26.5 cm), the drawing itself occupying approximately 9 1/2 x 7 inches (24 x 17.5 cm). The margin of the drawing with mat tone. The lower margin of the illustration shows the caption noted above in pencil. Framed.

This is Shepard's original drawing for the illustration from The House at Pooh Corner, from Chapter VIII "In which Piglet Does a Very Grand Thing." It was likely prepared in 1927, as Shepard moved from Shamley Green to his new Long Meadow address that year, while the book was still in progress.
