NEW YORK, NY -- On Wednesday, April 10, 2019 at 10am, Doyle will auction Russian Works of Art as a featured section of the Doyle at Home sale. Comprising lots 119-181, the offerings bear moderate estimates ranging from from $150 to $5,000 and are fresh to the market from estates and private collections. Showcasing Fabergé, enamels, silver, bronzes, icons and porcelain, the sale is certain to attract seasoned buyers and new collectors alike.
Highlighting the offerings is Part II of a collection of silver and enamel salt thrones from the Estate of a Gentleman, Park Avenue and Southampton, New York (lots 119-123, est. range $200-900). Works in silver and enamel from various owners include a Russian silver-gilt, cloisonné and pictorial enamel pill box (lot 124, est. $3,000-5,000) and a Fabergé silver-gilt dish (lot 131, est. $2,000-3,000).
Other noteworthy lots include a Russian bronze figure of a hunting dog with his trophy (lot 153, est. $2,000-3,000) by the eminent sculptor Nikolai Lieberich (1828-1883); a Soviet porcelain figure of a folk dancer after the model by Natalia Danko (lot 141, est. $400-600); and Russian porcelain two-handled vase (lot 146, est. $3,000-5,000).
A selection of icons includes a Russian silver-gilt icon of the Mother of God of Kazan (lot 173, est. $800-1,200) and a rare icon of the Mother of God of the "Sweet-Kissing" (lot 175, est. $1,500-3,000).
