NEW YORK, NY -- The Doyle+Design® auction on December 18, 2019 showcased Modern and Contemporary furniture, design and art by some of the most prominent designers, makers and artists of the 20th and 21st centuries. Highlighting the furniture and design offerings were iconic examples by Jacques Adnet, Jean-Michel Frank, Max Ingrand for Fontana Arte, Maison Jansen, Georg Jensen, R. Lalique, George Nakashima, Paul Rodocanachi, Jean Royère, Tiffany Studios and Hans Wegner.
Modern and Contemporary paintings, drawings and sculpture offered works by both established and emerging artists, including Paul Jenkins, Conrad Marca-Relli, Roger Muhl, Leonard Nelson, Louise Nevelson, Jack Roth, Charles Green Shaw, Bernar Venet and Mary Whyte.
With competitive international bidding in the salesroom, on the telephones, and via the Internet the auction totaled 908,063 against an estimate of $863,200-1,311,300 with 75% sold by lot and 92% sold by value.
Highlighting the sale was a circa 1958 'Dahlia' chandelier by Max Ingrand for Fontana Arte. Property of Susan Weber, the large-scale chandelier achieved $37,500, doubling its estimate of $15,000-20,000.
