NEW YORK, NY – Doyle’s Fine Jewelry auction on February 21, 2018 offered a wide range of jewelry with more moderate estimates than in the Important Jewelry category of sales. Showcased were glittering creations – including many signed pieces – set with diamonds, colored stones and pearls, as well as gold jewelry, fine watches, and gentlemen's accessories. Featured in the sale was property from three distinguished collections: the estate of famed Broadway actress and singer Barbara Cook, the estate of Barbara Cohen known as the jewelry designer Barbara D'Oro, and the collection of Noel and Harriette Levine.
Highlighting the auction was a ring set with a glittering heart-shaped diamond of approx. 21.93 carats that soared over its estimate of $40,000-60,000 to achieve $100,000.
With competitive bidding in the saleroom, on the telephones and via the Internet, the February 21 sale totaled a strong $2,163,469, surpassing the estimate of $1,415,900-2,000,800, with an exceptional 90% sold by lot and 97% sold by value.
