Russian Silver-Gilt and Niello Snuff Box
Maker's mark indistinct, Moscow, circa 1810
Rectangular, the hinged cover depicting Emperor Alexander I enthroning Minerva after the print Emperor Alexander I Returns Freedom to France above the inscription in Russian Restoration of France, the base nielloed with an architectural view. Length 3 1/8 inches (7.94 cm).
A comparable snuff box is illustrated in Solodkoff, A. von, Russian Gold and Silver, London, 1981, no. 121, p. 109.
