Fabergé Silver Samovar

The bulbous body with gadrooned lower section and cover, centering the coat of arms of the Berdyaev family beneath the Roman numerals XXV, flanked by two angular handles, with a foliate-cast spigot and valve handle and a pierced teapot base and socle, on a square base with bun feet, marked throughout. Height 16 1/2 inches (42 cm), approximately 164 ounces (5,089 grams), all in.

The present lot is applied with the coat of arms of the Berdyaev family, an important aristocratic military and literary family in Imperial Russia. The family produced a long line of high-ranking military officers and the important political and religious philosopher Nikolai Alexandrovich Berdyaev (1874-1948).
