Calf-backed boards. 13 1/2 x 9 7/8 inches (34 x 25 cm); 138 pp., including title leaf, dedication and all 65 engraved illustrations, hand-colored as issued, with the bookplate of Princess Xenia Georgievna. Covers worn and detached, spine stripped, worming on blank upper margin of final leaf, some offsetting from plates but generally clean.
This account of the wedding of the first of the Romanovs was produced from a manuscript of the period and edited edited by Beketov, the printer. His press was destroyed, along with his stock, during the Moscow conflagration of 1812, and the scarity of the work may reflect that. Copies with 65 engravings are "extremely rare" according to Ostroglazov. Berezin-Shiriaev V, pp. 36-7; Burtsev 1190; Fekula 1699; Ostroglazov 218; Sopikov 7757.
