Russian Gem-Set Silver and Copper Icon of St. George
Possibly by Olovyanishnikov, Moscow, circa 1910
Cruciform, centering a roundel cast with St. George slaying the dragon, the arms decorated with filigree scrolls and seed pearls suspended by coiled wirework, suspended from a hinged finial set with a cabochon garnet, the reverse inscribed in Russian: 22 July 1915 / to Nina / from Papa; Together with a Russian Gem-Set Silver Cross, unmarked, circa 1910. The icon 3 x 2 1/2 inches (7.6 x 6.4 cm).
