According to Ann Claggett Wood "The vertical linearity of the clock's unadorned form is punctuated by the dial marking the hours in Roman numerals, reinforcing the play of linear and circular geometric motifs. This play is repeated in the flattened, stylized ornament of linear and circular incising, animated by the pair of faceted lion's heads above the pendulum on either side of the case, each of which holds a rectangular drop that appears to be carved from the same piece of wood as the lion's heads." (Herter Brothers op. cit. p. 165)

Estimate: $20,000 - $30,000
