Set of Six Federal Mahogany Side Chairs
Attributed to John Carlisle, Providence, Rhode Island, circa 1790
Each serpentine molded crest above shaped and molded stiles, and a pierced splat centering a kylix urn suspending a foliate swag flanked by oval rosettes, the pierced and waisted lower section over a fan carved base and molded shoe, and an overupholstered serpentine fronted seat, raised on molded square tapering legs joined by H-stretchers.

The original finish on most of the front of the splats has been rubbed or worn, several have scrapes and wear to finish on the stiles and backs, 1 chair has 2 added glue blocks to seat, 2 chairs have 2 glue blocks and 4 new cross braces, 1 chair as an old chip to the rear left leg
