. [New York: New York Historical Society, circa 1809]. First edition thus, being a copy of the East Hampton manuscript. 20th century cloth. 8 1/2 x 5 inches (22 x 13 cm); title, p. -428. Stamps, last leaf repaired, front hinge spit with title and first leaf affixed to endpaper and somewhat worn at gutter, spotting.
This is a scarce copy of the 1798 transcription of the 1665 manuscript of the Duke's Laws, some of the earliest in the colony, which was published by the New York Historical Society in 1809. This section was likely extracted from the Historical Collections published that year.
