Part of a movement within graffiti embracing Futurism, Retna has expanded on the form of graffiti lettering to include influences of Egyptian hieroglyphics, as well as Asian and Hebrew calligraphy. Retna's work was part of the landmark Art in the Streets 2011 exhibit at the Los Angeles Museum of Contemporary Art.

For all three works, the artist has drawn borders as guidelines for matting using graphite pencil. The matting for these works was cut inconsistently with those lines, making them visible within the matting. Each work is hinged to the mat.
