Original wrappers, housed in an old folding cloth box. 8 3/4 x 5 1/2 inches (23 x 14.5 cm); Some neat restoration to backstrips and covers, blindstamps to a few covers; Together with one other pamphlet, Mr. Kingsley and Dr. Newman: A Correspondence, 1864, lacking wrappers, spotted.
A very important defense of his transformation from the Church of England to Catholicism. The second work included here includes correspondence between Newman and his chief opponent, Charles Kingsley. Scarce in original parts, ABPC reports five copies sold. The work has never gone out of print. See Printing in the Mind of Man, 312, for a brief discussion of this work.
