Lot Details

Lot 42
U.S. Great Central Fair, Philadelphia
1864 10c. Blue, 20c. Green, 30c. Black, Scott WV11-WV13. Complete set of three, 10c. and 20c. tied by " Great Central Fair, June 11, 1864" circular date stamp, with 30c. overlapping left margin of the 20c. Oversized envelope addressed to Mary C. Gray at the Fair. Additional circular date stamp at upper left corner. There are two small horizontal tears at right which barely detract from this otherwise beautiful piece.
Covers posted at the Fair were exceptionally rare and usually hand delivered by fair personnel. An outstanding Philatelic item with only a few others know to date. We believe this to be an unrecorded cover with only three previously known.
