Louis XV Gilt-Bronze Mounted Amaranth and Tulipwood Bureau Plat
Circa 1745
The rectangular leather inset writing surface of serpentine outline, above three long quarter veneered drawers, raised on cabriole legs with scrolling chutes and ending in shell cast sabots, the chutes and sabots struck with the C couronne poincoin. Height 31 inches (78.7 cm), width 48 inches (1.22 m), depth 25 inches (63.5 cm).

The couronne poincoin or crowned C indicated a tax that was levied on all copper alloys sold between March 1745 and February 1749
