An old label affixed to the back reads: This is a well...portrait of Charles 2nd Duke of Richmond...He died in 1750 aged 49. He was painted by Van Loo and has been engraved by J. Fabre. He was great great grandfather of Conce. Lady Rupell. We have the engraving in my collection of mezzotints in Prints Room. [Signed] C. Rupell
