German Gilt and Polychrome Decorated Porcelain Mythological Charger
Fraureuth Porcelain Factory, late 19th/early 20th century
Of shallow circular form, with a central hand painted scene depicting a triumphant angel guiding a chariot and a charioteer pulled by a pair of horses racing across the sky, above a defeated male and female nude and Athena, all on a rocky mound with cupid in the background who is about to cloak the figures with a veil, foliate border. Diameter 18 1/8 inches.
