Japanese Shibayama Lacquer and Ivory Two-Panel Table Screen
Meiji Period
Each panel of rectangular form, decorated with gold lacquer inlaid with ivory, stone and mother-of-pearl depicting figures in a rain storm, above smaller panels inset with children's toys, the reverse in gold and black lacquer with cranes in a grassy setting, all within an ivory frame with silver mounts. Height 10 1/4 inches, width of each panel 6 inches.

Additional Notes & Condition Report

Light surface scratches and reminance of scotch tape in three areas to the back sides of the screen, original joints that attached screens together are missing, overall age toning to the ivory. The gold lacquer on the front side is good condition, the back side has reminence of tape and small scattered areas of surface scratches.
