On November 11, 2009, Doyle New York held an auction of American Art. The sale showcased works by a wide variety of prominent American artists of the 19th and 20th centuries. Highlighting the sale was Richard Edward Miller’s Mimi (Woman in a Green Dress), which sold for $314,500. Max Weber’s Woman on Chaise Lounge, 1921, from the Estate of Jeanette Levitt achieved $50,000. With competitive bidding from the salesroom, the telephones and the Internet, the sale totaled $869,219, within the pre-sale estimate of $802,000-1,165,000, with a strong 75% sold by lot and 89% sold by value.
