[LIMITED EDITIONS CLUB] Complete set of original art by Sylvain Sauvage for the Limited Editions Club
. The book was issued by The Limited Editions Club in 1952, in an edition of 1500 copies. The set of drawings is housed in a worn card folder with the label of the George Macy Companies. There are 23 delicate watercolors, many mildly erotic in theme (each in a contemporary mat), 25 watercolor tailpieces on three sheets, 77 double spread pen and ink drawings for borders, and 13 smaller drawings for "background tints," to quote Macy's label. The folder is worn, the drawings are generally in attractive condition.
Sauvage's drawings are Persian-themed, and are rendered with consummate skill. Archives of original art for Limited Editions Club books are uncommon.
