The first volume contains a number of fine big-gaming hunting photographs (as well as family photographs); the second approximately 160 neatly labelled negatives mostly of hunting scenes, with a typed index, including India, Kashmir, Ladakh, Tibet etc., including hunts for Ovis ammon, the argali, in Ladakh. Gillies commanded the Royal Garwhal Rifles and ultimately the Ambala Brigade (1932-34).
