Case: the handle is missing; there is a veneer patch/repair to the upper right corner area; there is evidence of some shrinkage/warping to the lid; there are typical dings and scuffs to the case, commensurate with age and handling; one of the two interior divider slats that separates each pair of bottles is missing; a small key that fits into the keyhole is present, however, it does not appear to be the original key and it does not seem to work; there is a small area with loss to the veneer, located near the bottom front right corner, at the side; the cover opens and closes with ease, i.e., hinges are working properly

Bottles: none of the stoppers are stuck; there are some small inconsequential nicks to some of the bottom parts of the stoppers; there is some cloudiness/mineral staining to the interior of the bottles, varying degrees; no cracks or other type of damage to the bottles or stoppers

Drinking Glasses: the three tumblers fit into their slots; the three stemmed shot glasses appear to be later additions and are not part of the set

NEW YORK, NY -- Gracious entertaining is back as collectors, designers and influencers drove exceptional results for stylish accessories that elevate the art of hosting. Bidders from coast to coast and overseas drove exceptional prices at the popular Entertaining with Style sale on August 13, 2025, resulting in a total that far exceeded expectations! This exciting auction showcased an array of stylish items to inspire gracious entertaining at home, including delicate crystal and porcelain for the table, silver flatware, candlesticks and serving pieces, barware, furniture, artwork, and more. 

Highlighting the sale was an extensive porcelain dinner service by Rosenthal in the Magic Flute Sarastro pattern that soared past its estimate of $5,000–7,000 to achieve $19,200. Introduced in 1969 and inspired by Mozart’s opera The Magic Flute, the service was designed by Danish artist Björn Wiinblad, a noted stage and costume designer. Each piece is decorated with whimsical portrayals of the fantastical characters that inhabit the opera’s enchanting world.

Another feature of the sale was an extensive group of Royal Copenhagen Flora Danica porcelain offered in fifteen lots. With a total estimate of $50,000–$73,000, the porcelain drew international competition, pushing the combined total to $112,765. In 1790, King Christian VII of Denmark commissioned Royal Copenhagen—then known as The Royal Danish Porcelain Factory—to produce a dinner service decorated with botanical illustrations from the famous Flora Danica encyclopedia as a gift for Catherine the Great. This meticulously hand-painted pattern remains a perennial favorite around the world.
