Fabergé Jeweled Gold-Mounted Bowenite Bell-Push
Workmaster Michael Perchin, St. Petersburg, before 1899, scratched inventory number 47426
The domed bowenite body mounted in gold rocaille and trellis cagework, the top centering a gold push-piece set with a cabochon ruby, within a rose-cut diamond-set border, the circular gold base with scroll feet. Diameter 2 1/4 inches (5.7 cm.).

The present bell-push is related to a number of works by Michael Perchin in gold and bowenite in the Neo-Rococo style which were either sold on the auction market in recent years or are held in important museum collections. A gold-mounted bowenite small cup, scratched inventory number 46336, purchased by Emperor Alexander III on July 31, 1893, was sold Sotheby's, New York, April 21, 2010, lot 105. A gold-mounted bowenite beaker, before 1899, scratched inventory number 45684, was sold Christie's, New York, April 19, 2002, lot 165 (previously sold Christie's, Geneva, May 12, 1980, lot 277). A gold-mounted bowenite egg-shaped bell-push, before 1899, scratched inventory number 50766 (catalogue number 11.74), is in the collection of the Hillwood Museum & Gardens, Washington, DC. A gold-mounted bowenite cane handle, before 1899, scratched inventory number 46856 (object number 47.20.183), is in the collection of the Virginia Museum of Fine Arts, Richmond.
