French Japonisme Mother-of-Pearl inlaid Mahogany Fauteuil

Estate / Collection: Property of a Distinguished Lady, Upper East Side, Manhattan

Circa 1880, in the manner of Gabriel Viardot

The giltwood dragon cresting above a pierced, padded and mother-of-pearl inlaid back-rest above a square seat flanked by padded arms and carved dragon head handholds, the conformingly decorated pierced apron on shaped X-form legs joined by molded and turned stretchers.

Height 39 1/2 inches (100.5 cm), width 25 1/2 inches (65 cm), depth 19 1/2 inches (49.5 cm), seat height 18 inches (46 cm).
