A large two-sheet Dear World subway poster. A very large lithograph by Artcraft Lithograph & Printing Co., printed in colors in two sheets, the design by Faye Gage. Overall 81 1/2 x 39 1/4 inches; framed dimensions 84 1/2 x 40 3/4 inches. Framed. Discoloration and staining to lower third, not examined out of frame.
This large poster announces the previews of Jerry Herman's Dear World starring Angela Lansbury at the Mark Helliger Theatre on December 18th, 1968. The show opened in February 1969 and ran 132 performances.

Notes:Angela Lansbury received a Tony Award for Best Leading Actress in a Musical for her role as Countess Aurelia. The musical opened at the Mark Hellinger Theatre on February 6, 1969 and closed on May 31, 1969 after 45 previews and 132 performances. Produced by Jerry Herman, Jeerome Lawrence and Robert E, Lee, the musical was adapted from Jean Giraudoux's play The Madwoman of Caillot.

Archive of Grace Kelly Letters Achieves $165,600!
In 1949, twenty year old Grace Kelly moved into the Barbizon Hotel for Women in Manhattan, seeking out Broadway auditions and paying modeling gigs. In 1956, Grace Kelly married Prince Rainier of Monaco in one the greatest fairy tale weddings the world had ever seen. In the years between, Kelly starred in stylish Alfred Hitchcock films such as Rear Window and To Catch a Thief and won an Oscar for her performance in The Country Girl. In that first year in New York City, Grace Kelly met Prudence Wise who became a life long friend, personal secretary, and frequent correspondent. Offered is the largest known group of signed handwritten and typed letters, notes, personal photographs of Kelly and her children, and ephemera to come to market. The archive traces Grace Kelly’s remarkable journey from New York to Hollywood to Monaco in her own words in this substantial group of unpublished letters. View Lot
