George II Mahogany Bureau Bookcase
Third quarter 18th century

In two parts, the upper section with molded cornice above a pair of doors with shaped mirror plates within egg- and dart-carved frames and opening to adjustable shelves, the lower section with slant front opening to a prospect door, pigeonholes and drawers, all over two short over three long drawers, on bracket feet.

Previous restorations, later varnish, gilding, brasses, mirror plates and bookcase door backs,chip to front left corner of cornice, repaired break to bottom left corner of left door, slant front with replaced moldings to top edge at both sides, tops of both small drawers with repaired breaks and replacements, three lower drawers formerly fitted with escutcheons and with replacement moldings to top edges, age cracks to sides, feet later.
