George III Style Carved Mahogany Bookcase Secretaire Cabinet
Partially composed of older elements
In two parts, the upper section with a scrolled fret-carved swan's-neck pediment above a blind fret-carved frieze over a pair of glazed tracery doors flanked by hinged blind fret-carved pilasters opening to shelves, all over four frieze drawers, the projecting lower section with a secretaire drawer opening to a leather-lined writing surface and drawers, valenced pigeonholes, a prospect door, secret slots and drawers, all over a pair of doors opening to shelves and raised on bracket feet. Height 8 feet 7 inches (261.7 cm), width 48 1/2 inches (123.2 cm), depth 23 1/2 inches (59.7 cm).
