Russian Silver-Gilt, Cloisonné and Pictorial Enamel Cigarette Case
Khlebnikov, Moscow, 1908-1917
Rectangular, with garnet push-piece, the cover enameled with Sadko playing his gusli by Lake Il'men, bordered with trails of flowers and beetles, after the illustration by Bilibin, the interior engraved with a Russian dedication inscription dated 1912, the reverse centering a monogram and bordered with trails of flowers and birds. Length 4 1/2 inches (11.4 cm).
A nearly identical cigarette case by Khlebnikov was sold Sotheby's, New York, April 15, 2016, lot 39.
