London: Wiley and Putnam, 1846. First UK edition. Contemporary green cloth, partially unopened. 8 7/8 x 5 1/2 inches; 324 pp.; folding map, frontispiece, 4 plates. Spine sunned, extremities bumped and worn with small losses to spine ends, upper hinge cracked but holding, foxing to prelims and map, short tear to map near mount, small contemporary address label to front pastedown.
With Greenhow's "Map of the Western & Middle Portions of North America, to illustrate the History of California, Oregon, and the other Countries, on The North West Coast of America..." Howes calls for only two plates for this edition; in this copy four plates are present. Howes F370; Sabin 25841; Wagner-Camp 115:6; Wheat Transmississippi 512.
