George I Gilt-Gesso and Giltwood Pier Mirror
First quarter 18th century
The two-part arched beveled mirror plate within faceted glass borders joined with gilt-decorated fillets, the pierced cresting carved with birds' heads and scrolling foliage centered by a foliate-carved oval cartouche on a punchwork ground. Height 6 feet 5 inches (195.6 cm), width 29 inches (73.7 cm).

Overall good condition, commensurate with age, repaired breaks to cresting, left eagle head now lacking beak, top mirror plate possibly later and different shade from other plates, border plate dividers later, old marks and scratches, chips to gilded surfaces, arched section to back with later reinforcements.
