Boston: Phillips, Sampson and Company, 1854. First edition. Publisher's blue cloth. 7 5/8 x 4 3/4 inches (19.25 x 12 cm); v, 256, [4] pp.; fine folding frontispiece map, publisher's Advertisements. Boards rubbed with minor losses to extremities, a bit overopened with a few loose signatures, scattered foxing, map creased, contemporary pen trials to endpapers.
One of the earliest books on Kansas, and considered the best book on the migration that followed passage of the Kansas-Nebraska Act. With the important "Map of Kanzas & Nebraska from the Original Surveys." Graff 1709; Sabin 2964; Wagner-Camp 380a.
