Manoucher Yektai exhibited his work in major New York galleries at the very height of the Abstract Expressionist movement. His paintings appeared alongside those of Milton Avery and Joan Mitchell at Grace Borgenicht Gallery, and later he was represented by Poindexter Gallery. His work was also shown in the pivotal Stable Gallery exhibitions. His rich career and depth of friendships is matched by the richness of color in his palette and his range of compositions from expressive portraits and still lifes to fully abstract compositions such as this painting created in 1958.
