Chinese Brown Lacquer Tray with Mother-of-Pearl Inlay
Qing Dynasty
Of rectangular form, the interior decorated with a Daoist immortal reclining against a textile covered sack and holding a fan surrounded by small children and animals, under pine trees and a full moon, all within the everted rim inlaid with ten flower sprays alternating with shaped reserves in relief, exposing a basketry pattern underneath, the reverse with four small feet and the exterior rim decorated with alternating floral medallions and fruit sprays in mother-of-pearl. Length 14 1/4 inches, width 9 1/4 inches.
