Chinese Kingfisher Feather Table Screen
Qing Dynasty
Depicting figures at leisure, beside buildings and amid rockwork and blossoming trees, all before a mountainous terrain, the design formed with kingfisher blue, brown, indigo and pink feathers, gold thread and olive green and black felt, hardwood frame inset into later stand. Height overall 27 3/8 inches.

Back of panel: wood has shrunk with vertical cracks the panel is now loose in the frame, some of the tabs that held it in place are now broken

shrinkage to frame, evident at corners

extensive losses to kingfisher feathers some areas more drastic than others, velvet is soiled and wrinkled at edges, faded.

evidence of areas being glued to stablize, nothing recent.

Base: loss of lower back bracket, vertical cracking, glued to stablize at some point
