Born in Bucharest, Iser studied in Munich and in Paris, first working in an Expressionist and then in a Cubist vein, before adopting a more lyrical style. Iser became fascinated with the Dobrujan area, today between Bulgaria and Romania, making portraits of the local Tatar people.
