In 1947 the present work was made into a lithograph for a portfolio of six prints entitled The Field and Stream Portfolio; Gunning In America - Six Paintings By A. Lassell Ripley. The six watercolors chosen for the project were considered the finest group of gunning scenes that had ever been painted. Woodcock Shooting was the sixth lithograph in the porfolio.

Excellent condition, scored with graphite pencil for framing at the edges of the watercolor. Taped long the edges on the reverse; tack holes at corners. Colors fresh and bright, no tears or losses.
